Comete favours the brilliant cut in its JEWELLERY, the cut that most enhances the brilliance and shine of all precious stones.
Although 316L steel is not a precious material, it lends itself perfectly to being used in the creation of JEWELLERY, thanks to its anti-allergic properties and its shimmering colour. This alloy, more commonly known as hypoallergenic and medical grade 316L steel, never discolours and its colour remains unchanged over time.
The PVD treatment is a technique in which the metal alloy is treated in a vacuum and then a thin coat is deposited on it. Our JEWELLERY with PVD treatment is steel jewellery with some pink or black parts.
Our JEWELLERY uses mainly SI Purity and G Colour diamonds. Diamonds often have some tiny imperfections inside them, called inclusions. The clarity scale ranges from F (Flawless = free of imperfections) to I (Included = inclusions). Therefore, SI Clarity for a diamond determines how many tiny imperfections the diamond has, based on the clarity scale. In this specific case, SI is the abbreviation for Small Inclusions and applies to diamonds whose inclusions are small, but visible with a 10x magnifying glass.
Comete is committed to the ethical and sustainable sourcing of materials. The company has long been socially responsible, as well as committed to the environment, and we believe that sourcing our precious metals responsibly is of the utmost importance. Comete has a zero-tolerance policy towards diamonds from conflict countries and only purchases diamonds from mines located in countries participating in the Kimberley Process.
Diamonds originate in the Earth's mantle, where the very high pressure conditions necessary for their formation exist. The crystals are brought to the surface, encased in a rock containing a lot of olivine called kimberlite, by volcanic conduits through eruption. This gives rise to the diamond chimneys of the primary deposits. Later, through erosion, the kimberlite can be crushed, releasing the diamonds into secondary deposits, usually alluvial.
