Specifically, SI is the abbreviation for Small Inclusions and applies to diamonds whose inclusions are small, but visible under 10x magnification.

What is a Diamond?
Diamonds originate in the Earth's mantle, where the conditions of extremely high pressure necessary for their formation exist. The crystals are brought to the surface, embedded in a rock containing a lot of olivine called kimberlite, by volcanic conduits through eruption.
